Gradual Reduction of Strength of the German forces in the West In 1943 while the Coastline Continues to be held 4. It is probable that the end will come with the Germans still in position on the coastline in the West. While maintaining their defences on the coastline, the Germans may have been forced by a series of crises elsewhere, to transfer more and more of their mobile formations and air forces from the West. To cover this thinning out of their forces in the West, the Germans will be trying to persuade the world that their West Front is as strong as ever.
