A. Resistance in Occupied Europe. Part I. General Survey. Resistance in Europe is of two types: passive and active. Passive resistance can be described as acts and omissions which can be performed unobtrusively. Active resistance implies a willingness to risk life by participating in subversive organisations or in overt sabotage. Passive resistance is wide-spread and makes a valuable contribution towards undermining the German war-machine. Active resistance, if organised, has a far greater importance to military operations.
