originally intended to equip these units with specialised types of twin-engined fighters, heavily armoured and heavily armed, but these types have proved unsatisfactory and, as a result four-fifths of the establishment of these units comprising some 250 aircraft, are now equipped with single-engined fighter type aircraft. 9. In these three fighter type forces (S.E.F., T.E.F. and G.A.) Germany has now an establishment for operational units of just over 2,050 aircraft, compared with approximately 1,360 in August 1940.
