Disclosure of Casualty Figures to the Russians - Note by J.I.C.

1 Mar 1943

A N N E X. Copy of Telegram from No. 30 Military Mission to the War Office dated 12.4.43. MIL 8862 cipher 12 April. A.G. from Martel. Send details total British and Dominion casualties all services (including Merchant Navy) in all theatres since outbreak of war. Figures may help me in my conversations with Soviet G.S. who when discussing their war effort are certain to lay great stress on heavy losses suffered by Red Army in last two years. Although our Army casualties will be small by comparison total by services and theatres may help to bring home our world-wide commitments on sea land and air.
