Operations Against the Channel Islands. Report

1 Jan 1943

APPENDIX REDISTRIBUTION OF FORCES WITHIN FRANCE AND THE LOW COUNTRIES AS A RESULT OF AN ALLIED CAPTURE OF ONE OR MORE OF THE CHANNEL ISLANDS. (a) NAVAL E-boats, torpedo boats and "M" Class minesweepers are already strategically placed to interfere with our supply line to the Channel Islands. The ports on the Cherbourg and Brest Peninsulas might receive an increase of these types of small craft. (b) MILITARY It is unlikely that there would be any redistribution of forces except locally. The Coast Defences are formidable but minor adjustments might be made and there would probably be a general revision of the degree of alertness in that area.
