The Use of Infra-Red Devices. Note by Secretary

1 Jan 1943

(a) Type C, D and K. The enemy have something comparable to these instruments. There would therefore be no grave consequences to the Allies if a small number of these instruments were captured, provided that serial numbers were not stamped on them. From serial numbers on such instruments the enemy, if they succeed in capturing even one or two samples, are provided with some indication of the date and quantity of production. (b) Type F. There is no evidence that the enemy use this type of instrument for the same purpose as we do.
