German Strategy in 1943. Note by Secretary

1 Nov 1942

ANNEX 6. GERMAN STRATEGY IN 1943 (J.I.C.(42)462) THE COMMITTEE had before them a Report by the Joint Intelligence Sub-Committee setting out Germany's strategic limitations and indicating the alternative lines which German strategy might follow in 1943. SIR ALAN BROOKE expressed the opinion that Germany's commitments in 1943 might be greater than her resources, including those of the satellite Axis nations, could meet. It would be useful if some sort of a balance sheet could be drawn up. THE COMMITTEE:(a) Took note with approval of the Report by the Joint Intelligence Sub-Committee and instructed the Secretary to forward it to the Prime Minister.
