MOST SECRET A N N E X From: The War Office To: The Commander-in-Chief, Persia/Iraq. . . . . M.I. (J.I.C.) CYPHER . . . . Your 1/3681 dated 15th October, 1942. Following from J.I.C. Paragraph 1. No evidence of this. On the contrary, such evidence of German intentions as we possess points to Caucasus range as limit of German planned objective this Winter. Even if Germany succeeded in occupying Southern Caucasia next Spring, no evidence of intention to extend defence into Persia. Paragraph 2 does not arise.
