ANNEX Paragraph 2 of Summary, paragraphs 6 (e) and 7 (b) of the Argument and paragraph 10 of Appendix B. 1. In our view the Turks would not permit the transit of Axis troops through Turkey unless both Egypt and Trans-Caucasia were lost, and even then they would resist any attempt at occupation by the Axis. Paragraph 3 (b) of the Summary 2. Delete the last sentence. Paragraphs 3 (c) of the Summary and 3 (a) of the Argument 3. The gain to Germany would be offset by the necessity of either providing bread for the Middle East (which she cannot do) or holding down yet another hungry population.
