Tunisian Prospects. Note by the Secretary

1 Aug 1942

The staff is reported as doing what it can to build up its cadres of officers and under officers with the idea of rapidly filling them in in case of need. Several retired officers have been brought to the surface without, however, being reengaged and are obviously of the material intended to be used. At the same time the Legion des Combattants is pushing its work of forming assault sections of tens under the leadership of ex-officers. As the legionnaires are for the most part not young men these assault sections are presumably for the purpose of handling any action on the part of the local Italian population.
