1 Aug 1942

(iv) In the event of the Germans operating from Aerodromes in Southern Persia and Southern Iraq. Heavy sustained attack by both day and night, the former with fighter escort. (b) Sea. Under existing circumstances, the scale of attack is likely to be limited to one or more raiders (possibly preceded by air reconnaissance) and submarines. (c) Land. Assuming adequate forces in Iraq and Persia, there is little likelihood of any threat on the part of the inhabitants of these countries. (Signed) V. CAVENDISH-BENTINCK.
