A N N E X. COPY OF TELEGRAM NO. 16993/1 DATED 18TH JULY, 1942, FROM THE COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF, INDIA, TO THE WAR OFFICE. IMPORTANT. Request J.I.C. views on (A) Probability of Germans achieving complete break through to line of Volga. (B) Date by which they might occupy Baku. (C) Date by which they might be in a position to advance into Persia. In event of situation being such that above dates cannot be calculated do J.I.C. think that rate of advance will still be as given in your telegram 90924 (M.I.8) dated 31/10/41 and do you consider timings in your revise of 3/Inf/Appn/8 of 1/12/41 still hold.
