(iv) There are a number of shipbuilding yards along the south coast. Most of these are being used by the Germans, mainly for repair and construction of merchant shipping. The most important are in OSLO. (v) Practically all Norway's modest engineering industry is centred round OSLO or on the south coast. 3. The area south and east from STAVANGER as defined in your note does not itself contain any economic objectives of much importance. The economic effects of its capture, however can be appreciated only when it is known how far we should subsequently be able to interfere with sea and land transport from other parts of Norway and to attack economic objectives lying between the STAVANGER area and the OSLO fjord and on the fjord itself.
