Strength and Organization. According to current estimates, the Soviet Army numbers four to five million men. Its principal combat units are as follows: 250 infantry divisions (10,000 men each) 49 cavalry divisions (6,600 men each) 51 armored brigades (3,500 men, 150 tanks each) 42 air divisions (4,000 men, 100-160 planes each) An additional 55 divisions are in training, Immobile home guard units, numbering several million men, are not included in the above estimate.
