3. Estimated Strength. The following gives for comparison the current Order of Battle and that at 1st December, 1941 (i.e. Just before the outbreak of war):1st Dec, 1941 4th June, 1942 1st Line Operational a/c. Army 1108 1090 Navy shore-based 972 916 Total 2080 2006 Navy shipborne 548 450 Total Shorebased and 2628 2456 Shipborne While there is only a slight apparent difference in the two totals, there is an actual difference of 679 aircraft, because the 25% I.R. estimated at the outbreak of war is now judged to have been absorbed into I.E.
