2. ANNEX. Further to our N/77+ dated 1st June, 1942. 1. Assuming that:(a) The date is 1st October, 1942. (b) Russia is collapsing but Germany is at her lowest ebb. (c) The general battle front in LIBYA is about the same as on 26th May, 1942. (d) A British expedition is about to leave the U.K. to attack and capture SARDINIA and is due to pass through the Straits of Gibraltar on 15th October. What Axis land, air and naval forces are we likely to encounter in SARDINIA and what is the scale and rate of reinforcement likely to be.
