The Netherlands East Indies area. 1 8 8 3 above force is the Main Fleet minus units detached to the New Guinea area. Some ships are probably at their home ports and the Main Fleet as a whole is not actually offensively employed at the moment. It is, however, in a position to reinforce or move into the S.W. Pacific area at any time. There are suitable bases at Jaluit, Truk and Palau. (c) Indian Ocean. 5.5" Cruisers ............... 1 Submarines ........... (about) 21 This is the submarine force operating from Penang.
