A volume of reports commissioned for the Joint Intelligence Sub-Committee (JIC). The JIC was formed of representatives from the intelligence services, the armed services, and the Foreign Office. Subjects covered in this file include the Japanese naval threat in the Indian Ocean; Japanese merchant shipping capabilities; the possibility of a German attack in the Middle East; the security of the Allied trans-Africa air route; potential Japanese plans for the invasion of India; the strength and dispositions of German, Soviet, and Vichy French armed forces; plans for an Allied invasion of Sardinia; German preparations for the attack on Stalingrad; plans for commando raids on Norway; and an assessment of the possible French resistance to the Operation Torch landings.
