DRAFT TELEGRAM MOST SECRET. From War Office. To G.O.C. in C. East Africa. Your 15854 dated 5th April, 1942. Following from Joint Intelligence Sub-Committee. Nothing yet known as to Japanese intentions which throws any light on priority objectives East African ports. Priority of defence must be governed by strategic importance to ourselves, which we place as follows Mombasa, Dar-es-Salaam, Zanzibar, Tanga, Berbera, Mogudishu, Kismayu, Lindi, Jibuti. Mombasa most important. Order of priority of remainder subject to revision.
