In your MEDAL 65 you placed the main emphasis on a German offensive on the South Russian Front directed against the Caucasus, while treating an operation in the Eastern Mediterranean as possible but subsidiary. 2. On the assumption that the Caucasus remains the ultimate German objective, have you considered that the opening gambit might be a combined operation on Cyprus following by invasion of Syria co-ordinated with advance by Rommel against Egypt.
