MOST SECRET SECRETARY, EXECUTIVE PLANNING SECTION SCALES OF ATTACK ON THE AZORES AND MADEIRA With reference to your minute G.S.(P) 1197/G/1, of 13th February, 1942, the following are the views of the Joint Intelligence Staff:Assumption. The following estimates are based on the assumption that the Germans are established in French North Africa and the Iberian Peninsula. They are applicable to the date 1.5.42, which is considered the earliest reasonable date by which this state of affairs could exist.
