and the Japanese main fleet is not engaged. The Malacca Straits can already be used for the passage of the expedition. It is estimated that it would take about four days to embark the two divisions and the passage from Saigon to Ceylon would take about eleven days. The passage from Formosa to Ceylon would take about sixteen days. It would, therefore, be possible for a force to reach Ceylon about fifteen days after the expedition had begun to assemble, if Saigon were the selected port. Warning. 7.
