C. 2. (Q/83) Since July, 1940, Mexican consuls have had instructions to grant visas to German deserters reaching neutral countries. Many of these are now Joining the Anti-Nazi legion in Mexico. 3. (Q/84) Some German units brought back from Russia to rest billets in Alsace had to be removed because it was so easy for deserters who got hold of civilian clothes to pass as Alsatians. 4. (Q/85) Large numbers of German deserters from Bulgaria are hiding in the hills with the Macedonian brigands. 5. (Q/86) The Germans sent small detachments of men who had fought in the civil war in Spain to the Pyrenees frontier in December in order to back up their war of nerves.
