Scale of Air Attack on the Canary Islands. Note by the Secretary

ANNEX 1. Would you please. provide, for use by the E.P.S. in connection with a project now in preparation, an estimate of the scale of air attack on the Canary Islands under the following conditions:(a) A British occupation (by invitation) of Gran Canaria and Tenerife. (b) Use by British naval units of the harbour of La Luz (Gran Canaria) as a Fleet Base. (c) German occupation of French and Spanish Morocco and Rio do Oro, or use of bases there. 2. The scale of air attack would obviously increase as the Germans developed the flying facilities on the African mainland and some indication of this time factor would be valuable.
