Defence of Aden. Note by the Secretary

ANNEX. From:War Office. To:Commander-in-Chief, Middle East. Following from Joint Intelligence Sub-Committee: Further to Chiefs of Staff Telegram No.221. Following is appreciation of threat to Aden:1. No Japanese combined operation against Aden is considered practicable so long as the Allies hold Singapore, Java and Sumatra. 2. Even should these fall an attempt at landing and still more an attempt to occupy Aden is considered highly improbable as:(a) Aden is a defended port with a narrow approach.
