Operation 'Gymnast' - Cover. Note by Secy.

1 Oct 1941

Officer to Colonel Stanley undertook to approach the B.G.S.(I), Home Forces, in the matter, and to submit to the Board for its consideration suggestions accordingly. 4. Approval is now requested that, should W.S.14(d) be diverted to Gibraltar, its presence be accounted for by a story that it has been held up pending developments in the general situation with a possibility that it may be recalled to the U.K. The question of cover for the main body of GYMNAST will be submitted later. 5. Colonel Stanley was present at the Board's meeting this morning, and agrees with the suggestions now submitted, and has agreed, in view of the urgency for a decision regarding cover for W.S.14(d), that this memorandum be submitted simultaneously to the J.I.C.
