Cover for Operations "Anklet" and "Bracelet". Note by Secretary

1 Oct 1941

ANNEX. 1. These operations involve:(a) Operation ANKLET a reconnaissance by a Naval Force of approximately 2 cruisers, 4 destroyers, 1 oiler and possibly a landing party of half a Commando. (b) Operation BRACELET a reinforcement in certain events by an M.N.B.D.O. (including approximately 2 Bns. Royal Marines). 2. We do not think that any cover is necessary for either operation beyond complete secrecy, except possibly to the extent of giving the troops involved before they embark, some destination to chew upon, in which case a convenient destination could be selected at the time, as for instance Murmansk.
