Security of Convoys. Note by Secretary Covering Memo. By the I.S.S.B.

1 Oct 1941

(e) Stores for the Crown Agents for the Colonies which had already been ordered for Malta account were marked Convoy Z.2. and delivered to Didcot Depot. These stores were later forwarded by the Depot to the ports of embarkation. The packages were examined at Didcot where several incorrect markings were obliterated. Such an examination was shown to be necessary. (f) To avoid the destination of the convoy being recognisable from previous demands or cables, Movements (War Office) treated "compromised consignments" separately from the bulk of cargo for W.S.11(x).
