Cover for a Certain Operation. Note by the Secretary

1 Aug 1941

8. In order to deceive the enemy as to the Force itself, we suggest that the Operation codeword and the name of the Force itself should be changed from PILGRIM and FORCE 110 respectively. 9. These proposals have been submitted to the Joint Planning Staff from whom we have heard as follows "The Joint Planning Staff understand that a verbal proposal has been made that, in due course, Dakar should be used as a cover for sending the slow convoy ahead to Freetown The Joint Planning Staff would prefer, however, that this cover be not used, and consider that no special cover should be necessary for this Operation".
