ANNEX 'A'. From: TURKEY. FROM ANGORA TO FOREIGN OFFICE. Sir H. Knatchbull Hugessen. D.1.59 p.m. 22nd August 1941. No.2040. R.2.25 a.m. 23rd August 1941. 22nd August, 1941. IMMEDIATE. SECRET. I have not seen the President of the Republic since the audience reported in my telegram No.833 of 12th April. I think it would be useful, in present circumstances, if I could now obtain an opportunity for a general conversation with him and I propose to ask the Minister for Foreign Affairs if the President would receive me, not in audience, but privately for this purpose.
