Additional Staff and Accommodation for the Inter-Services Topographical Section. Report by the Joint Intelligence Sub-Committee

1 Aug 1941

ANNEX. INTER-SERVICES TOPOGRAPHICAL SECTION (N.I.D.6). Proposed additional staff and accommodation. Memorandum by the Director of Naval Intelligence. 1. At a meeting between D.N.I., D. of P., F.O.P.S. and E.P.S. on 4th August, it became apparent that the demands on the Inter-services Topographical Section (N.I.D.6) will increase rapidly in the near future and that a drastic expansion of the Section is imperative. Apart from the series of British Empire Reports, three classes of publications will have to be produced:(a) Inter-Service Information Series (I.S.I.S.) reports to the Joint Planning staff and Future operational Planners on which they will determine whether an operation in a certain area is feasible or not.
