German Invasion of Eire by Armoured Formations: Possibilities Of. Report by the J.I.C.

1 Jun 1941

3. Although we do not consider that armoured forces would be landed in Eire, this does not rule out the landing of a proportion of A.F.Vs as envisaged in J.I.C. (40)286+ which suggested that some 200 such vehicles might be landed. In view, however, of the difficulty of landing heavy tanks and of the limited scale of defence likely to be encountered, we are of the opinion that only light tanks would be employed. (Signed) V.
