The aim is to take the harbour for long enough to destroy all shipping, including the German cruisers now there". P.I.D. (i) "The British are very sensitive about the German occupation of the Channel Islands. It is the only part of the British Empire captured by the Axis. Sources close to the American Embassy in Lisbon say that the British are planning a major land, sea and air operation to retake Jersey, Guernsey and Sark while the Germans are occupied in the East".
