be operating at extreme range. This therefore precludes the provision of fighter escort to bombers, and consequently any serious threat to Alexandria by day. Spasmodic daylight attacks, however, are not improbable though the main attacks are likely to be by night. 5. The possibility of small scale reinforcements of bomber units being despatched from the Western Front cannot be ruled out, though this is thought to be improbable in view of indications that some units are already earmarked for the Eastern Front.
