Northern Ireland - Security Conditions during the Construction of Certain Bases. Note by Secy.

1 Apr 1941

As regards protection and guards for the bases, it is understood that the R.U.C. cannot supply adequate policing and that some reliance must be placed on the troops. It is suggested that the War Office should undertake the examination of this problem with a view to the provision of adequate protection. With regard to the prevention of the leakage of information in general the H.D.(S) E. Committee already has under review the problem of post and telegraph censorship for Northern Ireland in view of developments.
