4. We agree and would add that it is equally important that the United States Nucleus Military Mission now established in London, together of course with the United States Ambassador in London, should be provided with a similar picture of the situation from time to time. 5. The Chiefs of Staff have not yet had the opportunity of examining the proposals put forward in the Washington conversations for the establishment of liaison with the United States through the medium of the Military Missions. It is clear however that if the United States Nucleus Military Mission in London as contemplated by the Staff Conference is to fulfil its functions satisfactorily, machinery will have to be set up within the Chiefs of Staff organisation to deal with the many and increasing problems which will require joint consideration with the United States Chiefs of Staff.
