Repeated to Washington No. 123, Torch No. 15. IMMEDIATE. Secret. The French Military Attache asked the Air Attache to call early this morning in order to give him information from reliable foreign source in touch with the Japanese Prime Minister and who has been accurate on two former occasions: ((a) Hainan occupation two weeks before it occurred (b) three weeks notice of military alliance under the Tripartite Pact.) The French Military Attache who believes the report to be true particularly asked that the fact that information reached us from the French should not be divulged.
