Probable Axis Intentions in the Present Operations from Tripolitania. Report by J.I.C.

1 Mar 1941

Notes. (i) There are in store at Tripoli an additional forty Italian aircraft. (ii) only some 50 per cent. of the Italian bomber aircraft, but as much as 85 per cent. of the Italian fighter aircraft, is believed to be serviceable. 3.(a) Information as to the amount of transport in Tripolitania is scanty. A shortage in this respect would prove a serious limiting factor in maintenance of supplies. (b) The watered areas at Agheila and Benghazi are now in the hands of the Axis, which will enable them to supply their troops in that area.
