Special Operations - Security. Note by the Secy.

1 Mar 1941

ANNEX B. H.D.(S.)E. HOME DEFENCE (SECURITY) EXECUTIVE H.D.(S.) E./59 18th March, 1941. CONTROL OF ENTRY: LARGE SCALE EXAMINATIONS. Note by the Chairman. I circulate for the consideration of the Executive at their next meeting the following letter which I have received from Mr. Newsom of the Home Office:The recent raid on the Lofoten Islands has raised some interesting security problems on which I think it is desirable to consult the Home Defence (Security) Executive. The success of the raid may lead to similar raids taking place elsewhere, and the machinery for dealing with the prisoners captured and the volunteers who are brought to this country by the raiding force seems to require overhauling.
