Western Libya: Action by French Volunteers against. Note by Secy. Circulation Various Papers

1 Jan 1941

ANNEX 'C'. Translation of note from General de Gaulle to General Spears. 4 Carlton Gardens, S.W.1. 5th February, 1941. The proposal made on behalf of M. Kierkens to the British Consul at Barcelona in part deserves, in my view, serious attention, but also contains some part of exaggeration. At all events I consider that the matter should be explored. I would therefore suggest that the British Consul at Barcelona should at once get into touch with M. Kierkens and ask him to send a competent representative, acquainted with all the details to see him without delay.
