Supply of Photographs for Intelligence. Note by Secy. Covering Letter from the D.M.I.

1 Jan 1941

* * * Reference J.I.C.(41)l of 1st January. I entirely agree with Paragraph 3. With reference to paragraph 7. Copies of all "Photographs taken by Service aircraft" (paragraph 1) are kept by the Photographic Interpretation Unit (soon to be re-named Central Interpretation Unit, Wembley) , which has personnel from all three Services. The air photograph situation is, therefore, on a sound basis. Would not other photographs be of the greatest value if filed with this unit, which is in a position to compare them with air photographs and thus obtain the maximum value from them? This library would be readily accessible to all three services.
