Middle East Intelligence Centre (M.I.C.E.). Note on Tentative Proposals on Possibility of Changing the Status, Functions, Etc: Memo. By Director of Military Intelligence

1940

Another difficulty arose when, I understand, M.I.C.E. wrote officially to the War Office for information re the Balkans (within its charter, but objectionable as the Balkan Intelligence Centre was about to form); M.I.C.E. also wired direct to the Balkans (hardly within its charter, though I understand General Wavell had asked for this); this was wrong and rejected by M.A's. There are other examples of anomalous position of M.I.C.E. as a machine. 5. DUPLICATION. There obviously must be duplication as between M.I.C.E.
