Equatorial Africa. French Action In: Report

1 Jul 1940

The probable scale of attack on Freetown. 11. We assume that we maintain control of the sea and that the French can neither land on the SIERRA LEONE coast nor move troops by sea to KONAKRY. 12. While local holding attacks on the SIERRA LEONE border might be made from FRENCH GUINEA the main thrusts would probably be as follows:(i) S.W. from TAMBACOUNDOU. This is a point on the DAKAR-BAMAKO railway about 300 miles from the SIERRA LEONE border. Possibly two Brigades from SENEGAL and the BAMAKO region might attack in this direction, picking up troops in FR.
