Ports. Security Of: Note by Secy. Circulating Observations of Ministries of Transport and Shipping

1 Jul 1940

MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT, Metropole Buildings, Northumberland Avenue, LONDON. W.C. 2. Reference: Z.12/163. 31st October, 1940. Dear Edwards, J.I.C.(40)332. Further to my letter of 30th instant, I made enquiries of the Ministry of shipping as to the traffic between Ireland and Glasgow and Liverpool. This is extensive, but I did not go into details as I discovered that the whole question is under active consideration by the Standing Inter-Departmental Committee on Censorship (colonel H.D.P. Francis) who have been in touch with the Coasting and Short Sea Trade Division of the Ministry of Shipping since at least 3rd September.
