Such activities were largely confined to France, Germany and Italy. Service Attache's were each responsible for several countries, and this made the collection of adequate topographical intelligence on their part a matter of impossibility. The activities of the S.I.S. were also severely restricted. 12. During the present war every effort has been made to ensure that as complete information as possible is readily available for the use of the service planning staffs, and for Commanders.
