The prohibition (announced in the German Press) on visits by relatives to graves in France, the Low Countries, and Norway, War We concur. is due to the huge casualties, greatly exceeding those published, and in the case of Norway, to the fact that the Office. bodies were lost at sea. Note. The German High Command has issued a leaflet summarised in "D.N.B." of 1.11.40 stating that officers have been detailed to look after war graves, that "their task is a heavy one", that "therefore they must not be molested by questions, applications or visits from the families of the dead", and that no visits to graves in the West or Norway are allowed.
