Intelligence. Note by Secy.

1 Jul 1940

SIR CHARLES PORTAL pointed out that information regarding the state of aerodromes got out of date very quickly, and local reconnaissance would always be necessary before committing Squadrons to operate off an unused aerodrome. THE COMMITTEE:Instructed the Joint Intelligence Sub-Committee to submit a report to the Chiefs of Staff answering the points raised by the Lord Privy Seal in his note. " It is suggested that, in addition to the points in the Lord Privy Seal's note on which a report is required, the Chiefs of Staff will wish for an indication of the steps which have been taken subsequent to the 1st June to provide additional topographical information where necessary, particularly in the case of Crete.
