Malaya. Time Required for the Japanese to Stage an Attack Against: Report

1 Jul 1940

9. In view of the complete naval and air superiority which Japan would enjoy and of the poor fighting quality of the Cambodian troops, it is considered that phase (a) outlined above would be completed in fourteen days. 10. Little opposition from the Thais is likely to be encountered. The voyage from SAIGON to SINGORA would take two days and it is considered the Japanese would be in complete occupation in a further two days. 11. If serious opposition was likely to be encountered in the early stages of the attack on Malaya it would probably take a further week for sufficient stores to be unloaded to enable the attack to be launched.
