Notes with Reference to the foregoing tabular Statement. (1) Battleships Although the old battleships are used as training ships, SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN took part in the Polish War at Danzig. BISMARCK At Blohm & Voss, Hamburg, apparently completed on 17th May, 1940. Expected to start trials at any time now, but is unlikely to be effective before September, 1940. TIRPITZ At Wilhelmshaven in advanced stages of completion on 14th July, 1940, but is unlikely to be effective before December, 1940. "H" The laying down of this ship has never been confirmed and there is no Sign of activity on the slip vacated by TIRPITZ where her hull was expected to be built.
