5. LEAD. Maximum estimated supplies about 290,000 tons; stocks about 130,000 tons; total 420,000 tons. Estimated consumption in 1938 about 600,000 tons, of which more than half in Greater Germany, where consumption was already restricted before the war. 6. NICKEL. Maximum estimated supplies about 13,000 tons (Mainly metal content of coinage which may not be immediately recoverable); estimated stocks somewhat under 10,000 tons; total under 23,000 tons. Estimated consumption in 1938 32,000 tons, of which half in Greater Germany.
